Less Formalities for Local Grants Could Boost Startups in Sofia

malkite5 coworking Sofia for Startup Europe Week

Our co-organizer from Sofia, Bulgaria: Yassen Stanchev – co founder @ Malkite 5 creative hub

Why did you apply for SEW?

I have always wanted to be part of an ecosystem, based on sharing and cooperating, and SEW gives me the best opportunity to network with likeminded people.

What is your goal in organizing Startup Europe Week?

My goal is promoting the concept of sharing economy and my business in particular – Malkite 5 creative hub and co-working space.

What would you give to your local community?

I see SEW as an opportunity to show Bulgarian startups why adding value is the only key to success and how sharing it helps building a diverse ecosystem.

What do you think your area need in order to be a Startup friendly zone?

Sofia needs more transparency in the public services, and less formalities for small enterprises.

What could Startup Europe and European Union do more about developing Startup ecosystem?

In my opinion the key is in offering small grants for particular local needs that will empower change makers to step up and found a company.
