Startup Europe Week (SEW) is the largest multi-event of its kind for startups and is growing more global by the day. The fourth edition will be held from 11-15 March 2019 and will be launched simultaneously in 3 cities: Murcia (Spain), Salvador (Brazil), and Liberec (Czech Republic).
Startup Europe Week aims to showcase the support available to entrepreneurs on a city and regional level. Why is this necessary? Regional diversity and local policy making still play a big role in shaping startups, from helping entrepreneurs to incorporate a company, to providing grants or taxes breaks. For this reason, taking a local perspective is crucial to supporting entrepreneurs.
In 2017, #SEW17 saw 280+ co-organisers organize hundreds of events in 40+ countries. The week of events reached 100000 entrepreneurs across Europe, and as a grassroots movement achieved 18 million+ impressions on social media.
In 2018, #SEW18 broke all records with events in +50 countries, taking SEW to a global scale. The first events were held outside Europe in Africa, South America, the Middle East and Asia, creating a huge buzz worldwide and reaching +6 million people in 2 weeks.
This year, #SEW19 will kick off with a joint launch event between three local ecosystems: Murcia (Spain), Salvador (Brazil), and Liberec (Czech Republic). This will be the first year that a city outside Europe is included in the launch event and represents the ever-expanding growth and inclusion of the SEW movement across the globe.
