    Startup Europe Week together is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use and share data, and the choices you have regarding your data. We have updated this version of our privacy policy to reflect changes in data protection law.

    Applicability of the Privacy Policy

    This Privacy Policy applies to www.startupeuropeweek.eu (our “Site”), as well as other interactions such as the application form, operational form and feedback form that you may conduct for us that are subject to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the data practices described in this Privacy Policy, you should not use our Services.

    This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party applications or software that integrate with the Services through our Site (“Third Party Services”), or to any other third-party products, services or businesses.

    • Information We Collect and Receive

    We collect and receive information that relates to identified or identifiable individuals (“Personal Information”) as follows:

    Identity Data: Information such as your name, address, email address, phone number, gender, photo/avatar, account login information (e.g., username and password), and information such as unique identifiers and online identifiers.

    Event Data: Identity details that include personal and event information, such as event description, partners, speakers, sponsors names, attendees contact information such as name, email, phone number, age, gender, or other information used for communication purposes.

    Content: Unstructured or free-form content that you post on our Site or Platform that may include Personal Data (e.g., events, blog posts, or other related data and correspondence), such as information you provide in your survey responses, when you participate in market research activities, report a problem with our Site, receive customer support, or otherwise correspond with us.

    Financial Data: Information such as bank account details, payment card information and information from credit reference agencies, including similar data as defined in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e).

    Commercial Data: Information from transactions and purchases you make on the Site, registrations on our Site and billing details.

    Device/Network Data: Information about your interaction with a website, application or advertisement (e.g., IP address, MAC address, SSID, etc.), online user ID, device characteristics (such as browser/operating system version), web server logs, application logs, cookie data, web beacons, clear GIFs, pixel tags, and information about the way you use our Site and interact with us

    Inference Data: Data such as your preferences for receiving marketing communications and details about how you engage with them, as well as information about your demographics and interests.

    Special Category Data: personal data subject to the GDPR and similar laws revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership, and the processing of genetic data, biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person, data concerning health, or data concerning the sex life or sexual orientation of a natural person.

    • How we collect personal information

    You may give us Personal Information when you apply to become a Startup Europe Week (SEW) co-organizer/ambassador, register on the Platform, or submit a request from SEW application form. For example:

    We may collect Identity Data, Professional/Biographical Data and Content when you create a profile on our Site (“Profile Data”).

    We may collect Business Data, Identity Data and Local Event related Data when you enter into a business transaction or host paid or free events (“Transaction Data”).

    • Events

    As part of our Services, we host, coordinate and operate community events – Startup Europe Week events (“Events”), where you can engage with Startup Europe Week team and other community members. You may be asked to create audio or visual recordings (streaming) of these events, take photos, conduct interviews or surveys, or engage in similar activities at these events, and we will collect and process, the Audio/Visual Data embodied in these Events. You may object to the processing of your personal information in connection with the Events by contacting us using the information below.

    • How we use your information to provide the services you request

    If you use our Site, register as attendee or request to organise local event in your city, we will process the personal information you give us or we receive from relevant parties as necessary or appropriate to enable us to provide the service requested. For example, we may process your Personal Information as follows:

    We process Device/Network Data to operate, maintain, administer and improve our Site, (for example, to display content you request, secure the Site and understand how users interact with the Site) ;

    We process Profile Data, Transaction Data and Application Data to create, manage and communicate with you regarding any account you may have on our Services, including sending you service announcements, technical notices, updates, security alerts and support and administrative messages;

    We process personal information related to support and maintenance of our Services that you may request.

    • In connection with marketing communications

    If you request information from us, register on our Site, or participate in our surveys, promotions, or organise or participate in SEW events, we or our third party partners, SEW team members may use your personal information, such as Identity Data and Contact Data, as well as Inference Data or Profile Data, to send you updates, newsletters, surveys, offers and other promotional materials, including communications that may be targeted to you based on your Personal Information, as permitted by law. We may also, from time to time, contact you about a particular update that may be of interest to you, based on publicly available information, or information obtained through the Startup Europe Week, as events you have attended or hosted. You will be given the opportunity to opt out of these communications.

    • Cookies and Similar Technologies

    We may collect personal information using “cookies”. Cookies are small data files stored on the hard drive of your computer or mobile device by a website. We may use both session cookies (which expire as soon as you close your web browser) and persistent cookies (which remain on your computer or mobile device until you delete them) to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience on our Site.

    These cookies and similar technologies collect personal information, such as unique identifiers, IP addresses, device information, operating system/browser type and other similar data, which is used to create information about traffic to our Site and how users use our Site. The information collected may include the number of visitors to our Site, the websites that directed them to our Site, the pages they visited on our Site, the time they visited our Site, whether they have visited our Site before, and other similar information.

    These cookies and similar technologies are used when you share information using a social media sharing button or “like” button on our Site or link your account or engage with our content on or through a social network website such as Facebook or Twitter.     We use your personal information to the extent we believe it is necessary or appropriate to (a) enforce the terms and conditions governing the local event service; (b) protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, and/or those of you or others; and (c) protect, investigate, and deter fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical, or illegal activities.

    • To create aggregated or de-identified information

    We may disclose or use aggregated or de-identified information for any purpose, subject to the limitations of applicable law. For example, we may share aggregated or de-identified information with prospects, partners or sponsors for business or research purposes, such as when we analyze and report on demographic trends to measure our goal of having healthy diversity ratios across our programs.

    • Miscellaneous Processing

    If we process personal information in connection with our services in a way that is not described in this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy will always apply generally (for example, with respect to your rights and choices) unless otherwise specified at the time you provide it.

    Please note that we may also, without your consent, process your personal information for certain public purposes. For example, we may process personal information if it is necessary to fulfil our legal obligations, report data for applying to projects, to protect the vital interests of any person, or for other reasons of public interest.

    • Sale of Data

    As a general rule, we do not sell, rent, disclose, distribute, make available, transfer or otherwise communicate your personal information to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration. Note, however, that we may disclose or otherwise process personal information in connection with the provision of the Services we offer to you or at your request, and that we make one of the disclosures described in the Information We Collect and Receive section below.

    • How we share your information

    Except as described in this Privacy Policy, we do not share the personal information you provide to us with other organizations. We generally disclose personal information to third parties for the following purposes:

    We may disclose your Personal Information to our partners and other groups as sponsor and deliver industry-focused organizations, as well as other users of our services, for the purpose of providing statistics about locally organized events.

    • Your Rights and Choices

    Access, update, correct or delete your information. All account holders may access, update, correct or delete personal information in their registration profile by logging into their account. You may also contact us at info@startupeuropeweek.eu to accomplish the foregoing or if you have additional requests or questions.

    Email Communications. You may opt out of receiving our newsletters and marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions on a link at the bottom of each such email, or by contacting us at info@startupeuropeweek.eu. You may continue to receive service-related and other non-commercial emails.

    Withdrawal of consent. If you have given us consent to use your personal information, but would like to update or delete it, please contact us at info@startupeuropeweek.eu.

    • Disclaimer:

    Please note that this agreement is between Startup Europe Week (hereafter SEW) and the co-organiser (Partner) as an individual, not on behalf of an organization. It should not be considered a legally binding document but an agreement that confirms the Partner commitment to be a SEW co-organizer.

    The Partner agrees to organize the event in the city of accomplishing  and to oversee the execution and delivery of the advertised session(s). The Partner agrees to market and promote the event according to the guidelines provided by the SEW team. The Partner is aware that the Startup Europe Week brand and marketing materials belong solely to the Startup Europe Week founding team and should not be used without their consent.

    Startup Europe Week is intended to promote startup environments on a local/regional level. The Partner follows this mission in order to support the startup community and provide quality content for the events.

    For the organization of Startup Europe Week, during the events themselves, as well as afterwards, the Partner agrees to share information and data about the participants with the SEW team for SEW promotional and statistical purposes only.

    Partners will be asked to provide feedback to the SEW team on key findings from the events, which may include such items as: number of participants, speakers, key topics discussed, frequently asked questions, key issues reported by contractors, etc. In addition, Partners may be asked to provide proof that the events took place in their city (e.g., photos, videos, etc.).
